CBD OIL FAQ: Everything you need to know about taking hemp oil

How Much CBD Should I Take?

This depends on the strength of the CBD you order. For our 20% drops each drop contains 8mg of CBD.

You should always start with a low dose and gradually increase.

Start Low, Go Slow

Each person is different, and the benefits of CBD are often subtle and hard to detect at first. Every human has a different physiological make up and that is why the dosage can vary from person to person. In the end you must discover your own dosing regimen by titrating (increasing slowly over time) up to the dosage where you get most relief. For most people this is somewhere around 2-3 drops three times a day.

Increase or reduce dosage as needed.

  • Start with one drop once a day
  • After 3-5 days, increase to 1 drop 3 times a day
  • After 3-5 days, increase to 2 drops 3 times a day

  • After starting (see above), stay on two drops three times a day until you have been using CBD for about 3 weeks.
  • Review and assess: how is it working for you?
  • If necessary, continue to titrate up to find the dosage where you get the most relief.
  • Increase to 3 drops 3 times a day.
  • After another week, increase to 4 drops 3 times a day, etc.
  • If you increase your dose and after about a week feel that not much additional relief is obtained, reduce back to your previous dose.

This becomes your ‘maintenance’ dose.

Is it Better to Take CBD in the Morning or Evening?

Some people find that taking CBD oil in the morning works best for them as it makes them more alert (particularly with the RAW 2000, as this contains CBDa which can be a little ‘peppy’). Other people find CBD oil is best taken at night (particularly the DECARB 2000 as this has a calming effect) as it is beneficial for sleep and helps them relax. Many people alternate between RAW and DECARB each day for the lunchtime dose. It’s up to you to find out what is right for you.

How Often Should I Take CBD?

We recommend taking CBD 3 times a day, leaving at least 3 hours between each dose. It is always better to take CBD on an empty stomach so the acids in the stomach don’t interfere and break down the CBD before it is fully absorbed. Some people decide that taking CBD oil once a day is enough as a maintenance program – this is like taking your daily vitamins.

Is it Better to Swallow or Hold the Oil Under the Tongue?

We recommend placing CBD oil under the tongue and holding it there for 1-2 minutes. This gives you the maximum absorption through the capillaries in the mouth (sublingual absorption).

If you just swallow CBD oil you may have less absorption since it will be broken down by the acids in your stomach or metabolised by your liver.

Swallowing CBD oil can leave a harsh taste at the back of your throat. By holding it under the tongue and letting it absorb gradually you can minimise this. If you find the taste harsh, follow it with a light, fatty snack, such as a cheese or buttered cracker.

How Long Will a Bottle Last After Opening?

CBD Oil, when refrigerated, will last for up to 2 years howeverwe recommend using it within 3 months of opening. If exposed to heat or direct sunlight for a prolonged time its potency may reduce.

What is the Difference Between CBD and CBDA?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a natural chemical called a cannabinoid found in cannabis and hemp plants. CBDa is the acidic form of CBD. This means the cannabis/hemp plant in its natural state produces CBD + CBDa. When heated (decarboxylated) CBDA becomes CBD. So if you juiced raw cannabis plant material you would be taking CBDA and CBD. If you heated it, say by smoking it, you would only be getting CBD. Therefore, ourRAW CBD Oil 2000Full Spectrum Hemp Oil is just as nature intended.

Is CBDA Better than CBD?

Some customers report that they get better results using CBD + CBDA, others only CBD. This doesn’t mean that one is better than the other, it is just a matter of finding which one is right for you. Cannabinoids all work together in a synergistic way, this is called the entourage effect. Our RAW CBD Oil 2000 contain CBD + CBDA with over 400 other natural compounds such as terpenes, flavonoids, photo-nutrients etc.

What’s the Difference Between Raw and Decarb?

Both the raw and the decarb oils/pastes are good for general health, and also for most conditions.

There are subtle differences between the two. Raw oil is the full, cold extract from the hemp plant. It contains both the acidic and non-acidic forms of the cannabinoids, i.e. CBD plus CBDa (acidic).

The decarb oil is the same raw oil but it has been put through a gentle heating process which converts the acidic cannabinoids to their non-acidic forms. i.e. decarb CBD contains CBD but no CBDa.
As the raw CBD contains more active molecules it is a broader spectrum oil. Some people find this oil a little ‘activating’ or ‘peppy’ so those with chronic fatigue type symptoms find that this helps to give a bit of a boost in the morning.

The decarb CBD, without these acidic molecules, may have more of a calming effect..

What’s the Difference Between Oil and Paste?

The difference between the oil and thepaste extract is mainly the texture. Both are full extracts from the hemp plant however the oil has been through an additional filtration process which removes some of the natural paraffin and waxes, making it more liquid.

The oil will break down more easily in comparison with the paste (which you hold for a couple of minutes under your tongue) so the effects of the CBD will be felt quicker in your body.

No, hemp oil contains mainly CBD, a compound which does not make you feel high.

Some customers report that it makes them feel relaxed, others report that in high doses it can have similar effects to drinking coffee. As everybody is different the effects on the body vary.

Hemp oil helps you to keep a clear mind and maintain an active lifestyle.

Can I Take CBD with Prescribed Medication?

Does CBD Hemp Oil Show Up on a Drug Test?

When you get drug tested they normally use a urine or blood sample and check for the presence of THC (Tetrahyrdocannabinol).

THC-COOH, and THC-11-oic acid are formed in the liver after the body has consumed cannabis and it is these chemicals that are tested for when you go for a blood or urine test.

THC-COOH doesn’t have much cross reactivity to the other non psychoactive cannabinoids such as CBD (cannabidiol), CBG (cannabigerol) or CBN (cannabinol), which means if you have taken CBD hemp oil you probably won’t get a positive result on any drug test.

Theoretically it is possible that minute traces of THC that could build up over time. Due to differing body weight, metabolic rate and other lifestyle factors it is possible that CBD oil containing as little as 0.02% THC could show up in swabs, blood or urinalysis.Patients must determine for themselves if the severity of their condition outweighs this possibility.

Price Comparison with Other CBD Brands

We agree that CBD oil is expensive and we strive to provide CBD at the best possible prices.

In fact, when you calculate the price of our CBD and compare it to other providers, you will find that our oil is the best price available.

The simple way to do this is to divide the price of the oil by its mg content of CBD (not the ml of liquid in the bottle).

For example:
Hempworx 500mg for $70. Divide 70 by 500 = 14c per mg
Hemp Healing 2000mg for $250. Divide 250 by 2000 = 12.5c per mg
